How do I draw Abe?
Like this

( just lineart this time)
Warning! I don't know what the HELL I am doing!
I will try and explain this a best I can.
The first set is from REFERENCE provided by
[link]A very nice screenshot of my favorite fishman indeed!

nevermind that!
The horizonal lines for the most part mark HEAD LENGTHS. (There are others lining other features up too.) Those lines are also going to help me keep the features SOMEWHAT lined up when I continue the drawing-or start another one of the same charecter.
1. The first drawing is my rough draft. That is really clean rough draft for me, most of the time my roughs are scribbled messes. I start with a very loose centerline and stick figure, then build on that frame using basic shapes.
2. The second drawing is the clean rough broke down into basic shapes. For insance, the limbs are cylinders, the torso wedges. All of those shapes can overlap. I try and visualize those shapes as 3D forms. See if this helps explain what I am mumbling about:
[link] If your doing a drawing, it should NOT look like this! This is just an example

3. How the heck did I get from step 2. to a finished line drawing? I used TRACING PAPER (

Wait, don't go anywhere yet!) I used the tracing paper over the ROUGH to clean up the drawing. After I get the rough redrawn onto tracing paper I can fix mistakes with ease, that is because I don't have to worry about ruining the drawing erasing,( I am still drawing on the tracing paper) if I do make a mistake, I can just erase it-the rough guide is still there. I come close to finishing the drawing before I transfer it!
About the notes and various scribbles. Some of the notes are just my thoughts, those little marks are reminders of where I found my reference materials.
Meh, I think I made poor Abe a bit chubby

I hope you like this Daniella!

As always, thanks for looking, and please let me know what you think

And now for some really important stuff! This is FANART! Abe Sapien belongs to Mike Mignola and Dark Horse!
